Black Wych is my favourite Wychwood brew. A dark stout perfect for a winter night :o).

I am also rather fond of Hobgoblin and Bah Humbug.

My local Aldi does these bottles currently at a very reasonable £1.29.

Wych Craft is a pretty decent summer glug, but personally I prefer Wychwood's darker porter-ish beers, like Hobgoblin. Some of the paler ones err on the side of blandness, and Circle Master is one of the worst offenders I would say! Ah well, probably all down to preference I spose.

Nice to see a BITE blog, by the way.

Merry Xmas BITE. This site has come a long way since it's humble beginnings. It has become a great facility, were comments from pub users actually reflect the true experiences of going out for a drink.

This is a superb beer. Wychwood certainly know how to produce wonderful, golden bottled ales. Circle Master was one of my favourites and now there is also BeeWyched, for that honey flavour.

I bought a bottle for the wife and she hated it. I tried it and couldn't finish it. This is not what beer should taste like. I am all for seasonal beers with unusual flavours, but this doesn't work for me.

Haven't tried it. Enjoyed the Banana Bread beer on draught at the recent Wetherspoons beer festival, but, when I bought a couple of bottles, found it rather overpowering and sickly.

Fantastic stuff - one of my top three bottled "session" beers.

I serve it by banging it in the fridge for an hour then letting it warm up for half an hour ("room temperature" was always accepted as 56% F), and this seems to do the trick!!

We got some free vouchers to try tis stuff last week. We had about 20 and gave 17 away!!
We didn't get past the first pint, and even that was struggle.
It is very thin, hardly any body, and the lingering after taste is just like tinned beer you used toi drink a long time ago - i.e., all you could taste was the tin!

This is very unpleasant stuff

This is one of my favourite supermarket tipples, and at least Bishop's Finger is readily available everywhere, these days.

I recently had a complete nightmare of an experience ordering some bottles of O'Hanlons Port Stout from thedrinkshop.com: I ordered two cases, then at the last minute was rang to be told the warehouse only had one. I said I'd wait until they restocked, and was given a date of December 11 for delivery. They rang me at work today to say they wouldn't be able to fulfill my order, as they wouldn't be getting any more stock in until January 11. Well, that's not exactly going to be much use at Christmas now, is it?

Maybe you guys could feature ways that those of us in the sticks can use to obtain decent beers. Are there any decent websites offering a wide selection of (in stock) bottled beers?

Thoughts, anybody?

Black Cat - one of the top ten beers in England, imho.

And available as a regular beer at The Elm Tree, Embsay, Skipton, and the Lower Buck, Waddington, Clitheroe.

And not ther slightest bit watery - a lovely chocolatey slightly burnt taste all the way down. And that's its trouble - you look away.....and its gone!

Love Guinness, My local the racehorse in Taunton is one of the best places to drink it.

Guinness seem obsessed with getting other drinkers to start drinking Guinness when they should be looking more at the current drinkers of the black stuff and how to keep them.

Don't think I'll be trying the new Guinness red, why mess with such a classic drink?

Wish they could bottle the smell of St James Gate, Dublin, that would make me want more Guinness.

I agree with JonW999 , Guinness is a shadow of what it once was.Its problem is that it's got a lot of competition these days and many micro stouts make it taste very ordinary.

Millay, perhaps my fault I should have mentioned - but I acctually bought this in a 500ml bottle and poured it myself, you know I am noticing this more and more often that barrelled vs bottled versions of each Beer I review taste completly different.

I boasted how good Rosey Nosey was to some friends when we saw the pump in the Swan Inn Cheltenham, I had the same experience that it was far less carbonated and a lot flatter and bitter tasting than when I tried it from the bottle. Use BITE to send me a private message include your address and I'll send you a bottle so you too can see the complete comparrison between servings.

Walking into one of Watford’s few decent real ale pubs tonight (the Southern Cross) I spotted a Rosey Nosey resplendent with it’s flashing Santa’s nose on the pump clip. Remembering your review Steve I thought I should try it but I have to say it didn’t drink up to its 4.9% abv and I didn’t get anywhere near as many fruity flavours as you did. I didn’t really get any discernable bouquet and it had a bit of a musty taste making me think the barrel may be coming to it’s natural end.

Deciding not to risk another I went for the JW Lees Ruddy Glow at 4.5% which was similarly bland and lacklustre. It was at this point that I wondered if my palate had been somewhat spoiled by the two pints of London Porter I’d had before getting the train home. Nevertheless I pressed on in my search for taste and ordered a pint of 5.5% Roaring Meg from the Springhead Brewery, who I had not heard of before. It poured up lighter than I thought it would, bordering on copper, it had some nice citrus flavours with honey overtones but I really wouldn’t have put it at 5.5%.

Deciding that my taste buds must be completely knackered I had a couple of Guinness on the way home to write this review. I will however return to try the Rosey Nosey again and see if it can live up to your 8/10, at the moment I can’t really go above 6.
