Weekly Poll Results
Nov 12th, 2007 by chris
Well, our first week of our blog and we only ran the poll from Wednesday until this morning. Although we had several thousand of you visit the blog, only 33 of you bothered to vote – maybe you all missed it? I’m not sure but hopefully more people will vote this week..
Anyway, onto the results:
What would you like to see?
- A BITE Forum (64%, 21 Votes)
- Drink Reviews (21%, 7 Votes)
- Drinking Guides (9%, 3 Votes)
- Competitions (6%, 2 Votes)
- Gadgets (0%, 0 Votes)
Total Voters: 33
Clearly, you’d all like to see a forum. Well, later this week we’re hopefully launching the forum – so stay tuned. Drinking reviews were also popular, we’re doing those anyway and we’ll run another poll at a later date with more things we think you’d like to see.
On with our next poll, we’re looking at maybe adding sports events to the site – football and the likes - would it be handy knowing which pubs were showing them and when? Please vote on the right, voting closes for this poll next Monday!

I must admit I often visit this site but I missed this new blog and vote.
If I had seen it I would have voted for a forum.
Sorry, but I honestly think you’d do far better to stick to this website’s core interest, i.e. reviewing pubs. You say drinking reviews are popular - that is what this site is about (!)
According to the front page, in the last month you’ve only added nine pubs to the website, and added eight photos. I’ve sent in a dozen recommendations for pubs not yet listed on your site in the last month. Increase your pub database, and stick to what you’re good at, rather than trying to do all sorts of other stuff at the expense of what the website is all about.
I agree with mankybadger… it seems to me that providing sport listings for pubs would have to be a monumental effort, at least if the listings were to be at all useful to the different people who use this site: how would you keep them correct and up to date? Would site users be responsible for the content? Or pub representatives (those few that actively post here about their pubs)? And I’m sure the widescreen bloke would have something to say about sport listings
I too have visited many pubs not listed in the database (some of them very nice) and have stopped bothering to recommend them here since nothing ever seems to happen. Despite this, this website is by far my preferred first stop for anything to do with UK pubs.
As a diversity function of BITE, a sports listing seems a good idea, but could only be effective if it is maintained up to date. I can see this working particularly well for those establishments who have paid the registration fee and regularly update their own information, but it seems quite an undertaking upon the user community to update those pubs who have not registered. Also bear in mind that any delay in such details actually appearing onscreen could compromise their reliability among users of the site, creating an effect quite the opposite of that envisaged in the original idea. I voted for it, even if only to give it a chance, can’t really say fairer than that.
